BMW ALPINA B10 3. 3 LITRE MANUAL TOURING 2001 BUILD NO. 054For sale my ultra rare AlpinaB10 3. 3 manual Touring in topaz blue with sand beige interior. Ordered in 2001 the base car cost £35950. 00 with extras bringing the total cost to £47484. 00.
I acquired the vehicle in September 2015 (4th owner) and have driven it continuously ever since then. It now has a mighty 205, 000 miles on the odometer and still starts first time every time without fail. The bodywork has had the usual problems attended that affect all the E39 5 series (wings, sills, tailgate etc). It has the correct and original wheels which are mint along with an extensive file of invoices as you might expect with a car over 20 years of age. I also have the correct roof bars although I have never used them.
The car is great to drive with a slight rasp on cold start up followed by a subdued refined ride as you would expect from the excellent BMW/ Alpina combination. The seats are heated in front and very comfortable, the windscreen has been replaced for the correct “climate comfort” screen with new rubber surround. Visually it looks excellent and is regularly commented on as E39s become less and less of a common sight.
If this is your thing then you will know how rare it is (build number 54) and no dount as it ages there will be more work required (there is some slight bubbling on the lip of one rear wing) but generally it is in decent shape.
It had a new ABS sensor for the MOT last month, but annoyingly the ABS light on the dash comes on intermittently – most probably this is electrical/ earthing.
It needs a new fan unit for the auto climate control however the hot air and air con work perfectly well without this so I have never addressed it.
The parking sensors work occasionally but need replacing – I have a spare sensor or 2 in the boot. The screen display pixels are going however this is an easy eBay.
The radio and CD work perfectly, the sat nav is a bit hit and miss. It also has a tracker which I have never used and an original Nokia telephone system but no handset was ever fitted so the centre console has no phone hole/ slot which is good.
The correct door mirrors are expensive and both have been replaced with original BMW parts and are perfect, as is the rear wash wipe and auto windscreen wipers. I had a complete clutch assembly fitted about 4 years ago and a new alternator, new cooling system…the list goes on.
I have only run it on E5 petrol with the correct grade castrol oil. The car has just been detailed at Jim’s Detailing in IP3 9PL (video of the clean available on YouTube if you scroll down on their website) and is ready to go.
The car is currently located in IP6 outside my office. Thanks for looking
