Description
Superb collectors condition unmodified R53 - one of the last of the supercharged Cooper S minis. Full leather interior and has been very well maintained. One previous owner before me, always garaged and full service history: 5 at BMW mini, 1 at 1320 Mini and the rest at a garage local to the first owner, last service Oct 2024. I have maintained it as a usable classic but all my improvements can be undone as and if required with no damage. There are no modifications or reduced supercharger pulleys etc my aim was to keep this unmodified and original as far as I could. Never failed an MOT, no advisories under my ownership and will have it's next MOT in Dec 2024 (which I will do early in the event of it selling before then).
I bought the car in July 2021 and it took me a while to find a good one. I had intended to keep this car for another ten years until it hits its highest value but sadly I have too many cars!
The first owner had used it as a daily driver a few miles and back to work. Since I bought it I have tried to do lots of proactive work with over £6000 spent. I have retained all of the original parts I have replaced, in case anyone would rather return it to the original number plates, radio etc:
. New discs and pads all round (BMW Mini Warrington)
. New runflat Kumho tyres
. Refurbished original 17" alloys
. Replacement OEM badges, car mats and other items
. New aircon compressor and full aircon service
. Refurbished power steering pump and pipework
. Full Dinitrol £800 underseal at a recommended dealer
. Various seals and gaskets
. Rear light seals and new top brake light renewed
. Swapped older style radio antenna for a genuine mini shorter one (original available)
. New OEM car mats (originals avaliable)
. Full stainless Milltek resonated (quiet) exhaust - didn't go OEM for this, as for a car doing a thousand miles a year I wanted the longevity of stainless but not the noise!
. Lights and full car polished and all protected with GTechniq products
. New expansion tank
. Replacement front sub frame bushes
. Replaced all bulbs
. Fitted Bosch battery
. Sony DSX-B41D radio fitted for hands free and bluetooth - used wiring adapter so no wiring cut and original can be refitted without any issues
Full record of all expenditure and folder of receipts, old MOTs etc.
Original owner told me she'd had a replacement boot hatch as she'd rolled the car into a fence when the handbrake hadn't been applied (but the original number plate was intact so it can't have been too bad) and I have had the rear bumper painted as it had some minor marks (from the fence) and a PDR on a minor dent on the rear quarter but as far as I'm aware all the rest of the paintwork should be original. There are some minor marks and stone chips but nothing obvious or that I was going to get done. There is a crease in the drivers seat as pictured and a few small scuffs in the hard plastic but I don't think anyone has used the back seats. Frustratingly the garage that did some of the services between the first three years with mini and my ownership stamped the book a page out but I have checked against receipts and MOT history to check it was a genuine error.
Never smoked in and generally very clean as can be seen from the photos - always gets complimented when it goes in for MOT or service etc. Drives very well and no known issues. Any questions/ more photos just ask. This is a very genuine, unmodified example of a true (practical) classic, as the last of the supercharged minis this is the one to go for. It is an amazing drive and should only appreciate in value!
