An incredibly rare Mk1 Uno SX with an X1/ 9 1500 engine & Turbo gearbox.
I got this car from a friend (who did the conversion) in 2018 as he was moving to America (& I already had 2 Uno`s). I then drove it semi-daily until late 2022, it proved to be reliable & a LOT of fun & turned many heads! Then it developed a fuel pump issue. I left it as I didn't have time to deal with it (I have numerous cars). Its basically been sitting since, & because ULEZ is now a thing, I cant see myself getting round to putting it back on the road, so I`ve reluctantly decided to let it go.
I`ve not started it for around a year, I think it`ll still start, but it needs numerous issues dealt with before it can go back on the road:
The fueling issue.
The sump, which is the original X1/ 9 sump, & has taken a few speed bump hits due to it being low in a FWD configuration (around 2" of floor clearance). Its been Araldited a couple of times (its thick allot, so cracks rather than breaks off), but still seeps slightly.
The underside.. it will need some sill welding for an MOT, possibly the floor too, I`ve not looked for a long time. The rear turrets have been welded before I had it, & seem to be holding up ok.
Bodily is unusually good for a Mk1 Uno, the only real rust is on the scuttle under the wiper arm. I repaired a 2x1" hole in the NSF door corner to a decent standard in 2018, & its not bubbling yet! There are some dinks & wavy bits, but its good over all & still looks stunning when given a polish! (the paints gone matt while its been sitting, but it will compound up nicely).
The central locking doesn't work (I suspect the wirings cracked at the hinge) & I dont have the remote fob. The electric front windows are typically 80`s, in that they need some help to go up! Everything else works fine (as I say, it was used as a semi daily for a few years).. One of the front fog light lenses fell off (didnt break, & is included), the drivers headlight reflector is starting to go, a good replacement is included.
I replaced the discs, pads (green stuff), calipers, hoses & rear shoes when I got it in 2018, the brake pedal started sinking in traffic, not sure if its the master or the servo, but I did notice that the alternator bracket was able to tap the servo because of tired engine mounts. A good used servo with master will be included.
It had been fitted with lowering springs & a Turbo front roll bar, as a result, it handles superbly! Way better than my other Uno`s! The lowering did exacerbate the low sump issue, so I fitted higher profile front tyres to give it slightly more clearance. I also got a NOS FWD (shallower) sump, but never got round to finding a matching shallower oil pickup pipe. That sump will be included.
The corded velour interior is in decent condition, with no rips/ significant wear/ stains, but the foam is slightly compressed on the drivers seat. They are still comfortable, & aren't terrible by any means. Door cards are good, but speakers were fitted to the front doors.
As you can see from the pictures, its on Mk2 Uno Turbo alloys, & also has a NOS rare Italian made, period "Heckblende" rear reflector fitted (held on with the number plate, no holes were drilled in the bootlid!). I also colour keyed the mirrors & grille (original unpainted grille included).
I think that's it. Be under no illusion, this is very much a project, ideally for someone who can weld, but it is a fantastic drivers car, that pulls very well indeed, & handles beautifully. Its very usable & looks fantastic! Its also very rare indeed, with only around 60 Mk1 Uno`s left on the road, & only a 4 top spec SX`s left on the road, the chances of seeing another one is virtually zero, even at a car show!
Be aware, it WILL need to be trailered away (from Barnet, EN5, north London), as its not been road legal since early 2023.
