The beautiful history of this model: The 2CV is an emblematic car in French automotive history, created by Citroën. Its history dates back to the 1930s, when Pierre-Jules Boulanger, an engineer at Citroën, had the idea of designing a simple (but really efficient), economical and versatile car that could carry four people and a basket of eggs across fields without breaking them. So ready for the challenge ;) Development of the 2CV was interrupted by the Second World War, but in 1948 the car was finally presented to the public at the Paris Motor Show. Its design was revolutionary for its time, with a corrugated sheet metal body, off-centre headlights and soft suspension that allowed it to be driven over difficult terrain. The 2CV6, launched in 1970, was an evolution of the original 2CV, with a more powerful 602cc engine, hence the name. This engine provided around 29bhp, enabling the car to reach a top speed of around 115km/ h. The popularity of the 2CV6 never waned, and it became a symbol of France and freedom. It was often used in rural areas for farm work, but also in towns and cities as a family car or leisure vehicle. Over the years, the 2CV6 went through various evolutions and special editions, but production finally came to an end in 1990, after more than 42 years. Despite this, it remains a much-loved car among collectors and classic car enthusiasts, a testament to its enduring legacy in motoring history.
