The model presented here is a March 1981 Mehari in its original "Montana Green" colour.
The body shows no signs of cracks, breaks or non-conforming repairs. We have noted a few small paint defects on the front bonnet. The tarpaulins, soft top frames and "Black" Pvc door tops are in very good condition. We have noted a few superficial scratches on the front door mica. The 4 original 15" steel wheels are also in very good condition and are fitted with TOYO tyres showing less than 20% wear at the front and 50% wear at the rear.
This model is fitted with a 15" tin spare wheel and the MEHARI CLUB CASSIS spare wheel cover option. Among the interesting equipment and options available on this model are the "Black" Pvc door covers and frames and the MEHARI CLUB CASSIS spare wheel cover.
Interior: The interior has recently been restored to its original condition, and is in very good condition. The "Black" leatherette seat covers are in good condition, with no signs of wear, tears or discolouration.
The black PVC front carpet has a few tears on the front. The original on-board instrumentation and voltmeter are in perfect working order. The original bakelite steering wheel and gear knob are also in good condition, with an even patina of use.
This example is fitted with the options "folding rear bench seat", "Pvc front floor mats" and "passenger glove box", the latter being particularly useful given the limited storage space originally available in the Mehari.
Chassis : The body is sound, with no visible signs of accident or structural corrosion. During the dynamic test, we noted no abnormal parasitic noise from the body or running gear (ball joints, silent blocks, etc.).
Reservation of use: as a matter of principle we cannot guarantee the perfection of the alignments beyond their good visual and functional condition validated during the road test and when the vehicle was put on the deck. The original 4-drum braking system is in good condition and its efficiency remains in line with the standards of the time. The technical inspection carried out prior to delivery will confirm that the system is in good working order. Engine / Transmission: The mechanics are in perfect working order.
The engine compression test and the road test carried out by our workshop confirm the perfect mechanical condition of this model. Starting is easy, with no smoke or abnormal noises, and the idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video made with the engine running and available at the beginning of the slideshow.
On the road, the engine revs without any jolts or abnormal noises. The 4-speed manual gearbox upshifts and downshifts without any problems, particularly with the synchros. The clutch grip is good. As is often the case with older engines, the engine/ gearbox/ axle seal remains average.
