We offer this 1981 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, a Silver Spirit long version with vinyl roof, in excellent original condition with only 35, 000 km (22, 000 miles) guaranteed.
Delivered new by Rolls-Royce dealer Jack Barclay Ltd to a member of the Saudi royal family in November 1981, a Saudi Prince living in the upmarket London district of Knightsbridge between Harrods and Buckingham Palace near Hyde Park, who was passionate about horse racing and owned an impressive stable of thoroughbreds, some of which won the Prix d'Amerique and most of which raced frequently at Ascot. Our Prince, the sole owner of this car, died 3 years ago, and of course he was driven by his chauffeur. The driver kept a diary of all his journeys (most of them between his home and his stables) with dates, destinations, departure and return mileage as well as technical information such as CT, maintenance, suspicious noises which were systematically rectified at the next service at Jack Barclay's, the official dealer in London.
As this is a vehicle from an estate, our Spur has been kept in an underground garage for the past 3 years and has just undergone a complete overhaul by a specialist in the brand for the princely sum of 4, 500 euros, invoices included in the file. As you know, the Silver Spur was one of the most expensive cars in the world in 1981 (a copy of the original invoice is on file for over £50, 000, a veritable fortune at the time, the equivalent today of around 250. 000) after the Rolls-Royce Camargue and the Aston Martin Lagonda, but this example was fitted with a velvet interior to great effect, as the Parkertex Savoy Velvet was an expensive option at the time, whereas Connolly leather was offered as standard for the average person... The vehicle remains in exceptional original condition, visibly pampered, and drives as it should.
It is delivered with its maintenance booklet duly stamped (no less than 22 stamps from the official dealer). Visible by appointment in Mouscron on the French-Belgian border near Tourcoing.
