The Willys Interlagos was the first sports car to be manufactured in Brazil from 1961 to 1966. Under Alpine licence, it is presented in three versions: Coupé, Cabriolet and Berlinette. The name 'Interlagos' is not unfamiliar to motor sport fans, as the famous Sao Paulo circuit is named after it. The history of the Interlagos is intertwined with that of motor racing in Brazil, with the manufacturer's team dominating the races in the 1960s. The Fittipaldi brothers started out in these cars, as did José Carlos Pace, who is also the official name of the Interlagos circuit. The car is strictly identical to the A108. Only the badges show its tropical origins. Even the small weakness of the A108's locks are faithful... As far as the engine is concerned, it is the same as the Dauphine Gordini in three versions: 845cc, 904cc and 998cc, which was fitted only to berlinettes. The latter was fitted with 63/ 80 mm dished pistons with a compression ratio of 9. 8/ 1 and always a twin-barrel carburettor. In the end, it produced just 70 bhp, but with an unladen weight of 535 kg, it was far from ridiculous... With a production run of just 822 examples, it was truly a car apart in the Brazilian automotive landscape.
