The MG Midget, cousin of the Austin Healey Sprite, is the perfect incarnation of the British Roadster. Simple, light and easy to handle, it was a great success at the time and is now an ideal entry point for discovering the joys of classic cars.
Mechanically, the car performs well: the 1500 engine is healthy, starts easily without noise or smoke, and revs up quickly. It has just been serviced, and the spark plugs, cylinder head gasket and crankshaft bearings have all been replaced. The 4-speed gearbox is in good condition, and the gears can be shifted and locked easily. The drivetrain performs well, with balanced braking and precise steering.
The Rotstyle wheels fit perfectly, and the tyres are in good condition. The paintwork looks good, despite a few minor signs of ageing. The chrome is sparkling, and the aluminium windscreen frame is in perfect condition. It is also possible to replace the bumpers with chrome versions, or simply remove them to give it a sportier look. The underbody is in good condition, and shows no signs of impact or perforating corrosion.
The upholstery is in good condition, the seat cushions have been reupholstered and are comfortable, with a light patina to match. A steering wheel and wooden knob have been added, adding a certain charm to the interior. The carpets are in good condition, with only slight wear in the central area. The door trim and dashboard have no dents. The soft top is in used condition.
