Inextricably linked with Fiat, thanks in part to record setting models built on the Fiat 500 and Fiat 600 chassis, as well as the numerous victories of the Fiat 124 and 131 Abarth Rally cars, Abarth has nevertheless always maintained its own unique DNA. Taking the Scorpion as its logo Abarth was founded by racing driver and motorcyclist Carlo Abarth in1949 and with his friend Guido Scagliarini, began by building cars based upon Cistalia bodies.
From that first Cistalia 204 A, driven to success by Tazio Nuvolari, to the 500 Abarth, the company notched up win after win in competition, cementing its reputation as the tuner of choice for many. Alongside racing, the company started to produce tuning kits that improved the performance, power and speed of standard vehicles, including those of Fiat, beginning a well known association with the Italian automaker in 1952.
Abarth would revolutionise motorsport and tuning with Abarth vehicles being synonymous with high-performance and agility - a legacy that continues to this day - so if you're looking for a classic Abarth then Car & Classic no doubt has the car for you.
