The Mazda RX-8 is a desirable, but unusual and unconventional sports car. Though it was launched back in 2003, it still looks futuristic and sleek. It is beautifully detailed and defined by its very lightweight, unique high-revving 1. 3-litre rotary engine. This makes for a very compact, and overall light package. Unlike the RX-7 (which had ceased production in Japan in 2002, the new Renesis rotary was naturally-aspirated rather than turbocharged and still capable of producing 237bhp at a free-spinning 8500rpm plus plus plus!
The RX-8 is great to drive too, delivering sharp steering and supple, comfortable suspension. Body control is excellent, with low roll in the bends, thanks to its rear-wheel-drive layout together with direct steering.
Underpinnings were closely related to the third-generation Mazda MX-5 - indeed, engineers used MX-5 prototypes to develop the drivetrain. Suspension is double-wishbone up front and multi-link at the rear, and Mazda managed to keep weight relatively low, with a 1300kg figure. Production ended in 2010 making this a now very rare opportunity for all Mazda and JDM enthusiasts.
With just over 2, 000 km completed from new, this car is in showroom condition. Delivered new into country Victoria, the car has only had less then a handful of owners which have kept the car is perfect condition.
Coming with its original wallet holding all the manuals and books showing that the servicing is all up-to-date and has only been carried out by Mazda factory service centres. The car drives and operates very well, as if it was the first day it entered onto Australian roads. Inside the Mazda’s individual styling for the RX-8 is finished in Black stands out well with the Metallic Silver exterior.
With the value of modern classic Japanese cars rapidly growing, this is sure to be one to tuck away for a special day.
