**** CHANGE IN CIRCUMSTANCES FORCES QUICK SALE.
PRICE DROPPED FROM 25K
Vehicle in Morpeth. Needs new alternator so needs trailer pickup ****
The 1 Ton variant rarely comes available, and this one has been rebuilt from the ground up – hence the asking price.
The 1 Ton Series Land Rover is one of the rarest production Land Rovers, with only about 700 manufactured, about 60 of which survive with only 10-12 still on the road. This Land Rover is 1 of only 238 Series III 1 Tons built.
The 1 Ton variants have an increased payload and better cross-country performance than their ¾ Ton counterparts. Introduced to meet the needs of the Electricity Board and recovery garages, 1 Tons were manufactured with unique features such as a low ratio gearbox; low geared steering box; ENV Axles and greater offset rims with 900x16 tires – all of which are present.
This vehicle has been lovingly restored over the past 3 years, with a full strip-down and reassembly. The list of work is massive, and conveys the care and time taken on the project:
• Correct tires and rims sourced and fitted
• Full chassis strip down, repair and galvanised. With a new rear quarter fitted.
• Axles – differentials overhauled, replaced seals and gaskets, replaced swivel balls, rebuilt steering system on axle.
• Brake system – new break lines, new master and slave cylinders, set correctly.
• Engine – completely rebuilt 2. 6l, 6 cyl engine including replacing all bearings, engine bored out to +0. 060in, new pistons and rings, cam shaft polished, valves and head decarbonised, valves honed, head skimmed, new gaskets and seals, new core plugs and new clutch. (All machining completed by ‘Cox and Turner’ of Yeovil)
• Full carburettor re-build with vapour blasting.
• Gearbox stripped, parts replaced where required – 1st gear, hi/ low in transfer box, new bushings, 3rd/ 4th synchro serviced.
• Rebuilt distributor.
• Re-cored radiator and fresh pipes.
• Galvanised bulkhead.
• Steering completely overhauled with new track rod, drag rod, ball joints all round and new steering relay.
• Galvanised Radiator panel.
• New wiring loom throughout (taped up now unlike the photo).
• New headlights but original brake lights.
• Windscreen frame re-galvanised and fresh glass fitted.
• Refurbished air filter.
• Re-cored heater matrix and reconditioned blower (missing in pic but there now).
• New doors, door tops, wingmirrors, seats, seatbelts, battery, and more…
• Plus a full respray both inside and out
This example has been finished in the original Land Rover light green that it would have left the factory in. We have gone to great lengths to restore this vehicle back to as close to its original condition as possible.
