Description
The SP250 has a UK registration number and logbook.
I have owned the car since February 2016.
I have a Jaguar Heritage Certificate stating the date of manufacture was 25th August 1961 so B spec.
This was originally for the American market hence LHD, originally exported to Texas, this will explain the excellent condition of the chassis.
When I purchased the car the engine was running, clutch working, gears engaging and brakes soft but working.
I decided to go through the running gear including the brakes and suspension first and ran up quite a few bills with Barry Thorne, I upgraded the rear suspension with the help of a Robert Grinter telescopic suspension kit and fitted Spax adjustable shocks front and rear. There are a pair of new rear leaf springs included but not yet fitted, the car sits on what I assume to be the original set.
The second phase was to enlist the services of Russ Carpenter, Russ rebuilt the carburettors and completely refurbished and rebuilt the cylinder heads, all cooling hoses and stainless joining pipework was replaced at the same time.
Running and driving, starts on the button.
