Description
1939 Vauxhall Trials Car fitted with a 1500 cc supercharged engine, this is a very special/ historic car.
The car was built by Cyril Crossby who was the foreman in the Experimental Engine Dept at Vauxhall.
This car achieved many awards including MCC Edinburgh/ Exeter and Lands End finishing First/ Second or Third which are all documented in a comprehensive file including many period photographs, included in the history file are hand written notes on the build and the modifications carried out by Cyril and tips on trialling the car to achieve great results.
The car has had a great deal work carried out on it including a complete engine rebuild from head to sump, the cooling system has been overhauled and the radiator has been recored, the vertex magneto has been completely overhauled, the fuel system has been stripped and inspected the fuel tank is in near new condition, it has a complete new clutch assembly, brakes have been overhauled, starter motor has rebuilt, all wheel bearings have been replaced including seals , all tyres are including the tubes, a new exhaust system has been hand crafted to the original system in stainless steel giving the car great ground clearance. I have carried out many mechanical tasks on the car and it has proved to be very reliable.
The bodywork is original and solid, paintwork is showing signs of wear and its age, the hood and tonneau are original and in good condition, the carpets are new and the car still retains its original registration number.
The car features in a book, Vauxhall by Micheal Sedgwick on page 74, it has only had three owners since Cyril sold it, the previous owner owned the car for fifty seven years.
Summing up - it is ready for its next chapter. I have purchased another car and that is the only reason it is available.
