Description
After the TR5 Triumph decided to go for a new design together with Karmann. Whilst the TR6’s looks were new, below the surface matters were not shockingly different. The chassis, engines, suspension and doors remained the same. That was not necessarily a bad thing as the delightful manual 4-speed with overdrive, six-cylinder delivers oodles of pleasure.
It is 1972 when the first owner collected his Triumph TR6 for his dealership. He certainly cut a dash in this Coventry built tough looking, two-seater roadster.
And now after over 50 years later the car still looks as if it has just left the forecourt, due to a very thorough and fantastically well documented 2016-2021 restoration. The car was dismantled right down to the very last nut and bolt and as the photos show taken back to bare metal. Follow that with a very thorough restoration, purely carried out by experts as well as having benefitted form the knowledge of one famous specialist who sourced all the parts. Piles of invoices show what they ordered for the restoration of the TR6. Whilst we have not compared the invoice specification with the parts book, we have a strong suspicion that most parts were replaced by new ones.
All this has resulted in a beautifully finished TR6 resplendent in its navy blue finish. The combination of a navy blue exterior and naturally coloured hide upholstery always suits a TR6 perfectly.
The bodywork has been professionally restored leaving us with a brilliant TR6 from what ever angle you view the car, every detail is splendidly presented. The interior invites you to take your seat. The lovely lacquered wooden dashboard showing off the correct Smiths gauges and original steering wheel all make this a rather pleasant place to find ones self in. The high quality fully renewed upholstery provides excellent seating. Once seated behind the wheel there is only one left to do: Drive the TR6!
And what a drive this Triumph gives. With its fully rebuilt 2. 5 litre straight-six delivering 150 hp, the car is more than sporty. The engine is coupled to a manual 4-speed gearbox with the always sought-after overdrive option. What joy this car gives when touring the countryside.
An impressive file brimming with documents and invoices accompanies the car. Absolutely everything relating to the restoration has been archived, allowing the new owner to meticulously pour over every detail.
We are quite sure this TR6 is offered in a seldom seen exterior and mechanical exquisite state.
