Description

The MGB was developed during the late 50s to be MG’s first monocoque body shell sports car. The stiffer body was styled by Don Hayter who drew elements from the experimental high speed land record breaker, the EX181. Despite being 3 inches shorter than the MGA, the MGB was remarkably roomier and more comfortable with features including proper wind up windows. Powered by an enlarged to 1. 8lt version of the 3 main bearing ‘B’ series engine, the MGB would prove to be an open road top down thrilling experience all the way up to 167 km/ h. The early model series was produced from 1962 to 1967 and featured leather seats, pull handle doors, flush fitting locks, disc wheels, cross ply tyres, aluminum bonnet and pack away into the trunk hood with optional extras including wire wheels, overdrive and a hood that could fold into the cabin.
The MGB offered was produced late in 1964 as a left hand drive car for the European market to feature all optional extras to be later registered to its first owner in January of 1965. Fifty five years and 93000 km later it was restored from its grounds up to most desirable shade of Royal Blue over Cream leather interior and blue soft top. The Moss Europe and Brown & Gammons Ltd supplied parts totalling over 10000 euros included new rack and pinion steering, stub axles, new brakes, fuel tank, gauges, door handles, locks, mirrors, visors, lenses, stainless steel boot rack, 60 spoke wheel as well as numerous smart upgrades such as polyurethane bushing for the entire car, CSI programmable distributor, Sports ignition coil, an electric fuel pump and Becker face retro radio complete with all moden features. Offered with less than 1000 km since completion of restoration and tuned to perfection, this visually remarkable MGB is the perfect candidate for a marque event or simply an evening drive.
