Aston Martin V8 Series IV Oscar India
In April 1972, the DBS V8 was succeeded by the Aston Martin V8. This Aston Martin was developed during the David Brown era until a bankruptcy put spikes in the wheels. The further development was taken up by the new owner, Company Developments.
Compared with the DBS V8, the changes made to the exterior are mainly seen on the front side of the car. The V8 was fitted with a matte black grille, a bonnet with a low air intake opening and two single headlights in the wings. The latter is copied from the DBS Vantage 6-cylinder during the period between May 1972 and July 1973.
The Oscar India specification was introduced at the Birmingham Motor Show in October 1978. Visually, the former scoop on the bonnet gave way to a closed power bulge, while a spoiler was integrated in the tail. Most Oscar India Aston Martins were fitted with an automatic transmission, a Chrysler Torque flite three speed. Wood trim was fitted for the first time since the DB 2/ 4 Series of the Fifties.
The Oscar India was in production for almost 8 years, 293 were built in total. 229 Oscar India’s were RHD, only 64 were LHD !
The Noble House Aston Martin V8 Oscar India was built at the end of 1981 and was registered in 1982. Little is known of the V8 up to 2016, when it was bought by the last owner. In August 2016 the odometer showed 91. 700 km. Now the odometer shows 03315 (in reality 103. 315), which means that 12. 600 km were driven in the last 7 years.
In the period 2016 through 2017 extensive maintenance was carried out by Noble House. Around Euro 35. 000 was invested in:
- 10. 000 km service.
- Full overhaul of the brake system.
- Replace BBS rims by original Ronal rims.
- Reconditioning of automatic transmission.
- Reconditioning of water pump.
- Adding 50 BHP by tuning engine and ignition combination.
- Replacing shock absorbers.
- Maintenance of air conditioning and heater system.
- Replacing various wiring looms and so on.
Invoices of the work carried out and parts added are present.
