Description
Mercedes Benz 300 SL.
February 1989.
47, 600 miles from new.
3 Owners.
Arctic White with Mid Red Leather Interior trim. Black Hood, white hardtop.
With production of the R107 ending in July 1989, and after some 14, 500 examples sold (from 1971-1989) in the UK of this timeless classic, this particular example was ordered in late 1988, for early Spring 1989 delivery, making this example a very late example.
Finished in Arctic White with the ultra rare mid red leather interior trim, complete with the optional leather rear seat. Complimented with other factory options of twin illuminated vanity mirrors, Blaupunkt Cambridge Radio Cassette player and Hershman electric aerial.....
An exceptionally well maintained motor car, with some 17 service stamps in the book, along with detailed bills outlining the maintenance carried out. With a very recent thorough service, it's ready to go, and an MOT in July with no advisories indicating any current or future problems.
These R107's all had hardtops from new, (although but they could be a delete option), with each hardtop having the car's chassis number stamped on the underside, as per a picture this is clearly shown, this example retains its original hardtop.
The hood is in impeccable condition, no damp marks, the windows all extremely clear. The hood frame is also unmarked with no deterioration.
The hood storage area is perfect, along with the mechanism still sparkling, as per the pictures. The hood is actually the original factory fitment, quite remarkable!
With regards to bodywork, the car is straight, rust free and correct. The chrome is spotless, the alloy wheels near perfect. A handful of age related stone chips, and some minor grit marks on the electric windows are perhaps the only faults.
Four correct Dunlop tyres have recently been fitted, not 500 miles covered since.
The interior is very clean and tidy. The leatherwork is supple and cared for. No undue wear noticeable. A retro looking but modern radio with all the 'current' functions is fitted, but in the boot, the original Blaupunkt Cambridge radio cassette player is in a box...... the boot compartment has clearly been under used, hardly a mark. The original first aid kit is present, also unused, with the tool roll still in its supplying plastic bag. The spare wheel is present, complete with its original Michelin tyre.
A really lovely and genuine timeless classic.
