EXTERIOR
Finished in popular Le Mans Blue metallic this facelift M5 presents in great order throughout. The current owner purchased the car way back in 2006 and has always kept it under BMW extended warranty meaning that any mechanical or cosmetic work has always been taken care of by BMW. Looking closely around the car the paintwork shows a deep swirl-free shine with no off-colour panels. In line with the mileage there is a dusting of light frontal stone chips but the headlights are still lovely and clear. A keen eye may spot one or two carefully touched-in marks and minor blemishes but overall it’s a very smart example that has clearly been loved.
INTERIOR
The electric sports seats remain in good condition including commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolster and around the switchgear. There are a few small marks on the driver’s door pull and on the passenger seat but otherwise everything is very tidy and original. Soft Nappa leather extends along the centre console and to the gear knob which also presents well although some delamination to the original M badge is visible. The steering wheel also retains a nice texture to the leather but there is a small amount of wear on the lower plastic trim. In the footwells the original BMW overmats are still present and have clearly done an excellent job of protecting the carpets.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is also very clean and original. Reading through the accompanying history file the car has, quite remarkably, only ever been serviced by BMW. As such it has always been maintained to the highest standards with the different service types all carried out in the correct order. The most recent service was the major Inspection II carried out less than 2, 500 miles ago by Cotswold BMW in January 2023. There are 13 BMW stamps in the original maintenance book including the all-important running-in check carried out at 1, 260 miles.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Rydale BMW this smart Le Mans Blue E39 M5 was registered to its first owner in March 2001; it has now driven 99, 854 miles in the hands of only 2 additional keepers. The current owner bought it in 2006 and has always taken it back to Cotswold BMW when any work has been required; he has also kept it under BMW extended warranty during this time. The accompanying history file is complete with the original BMW document wallet with all BMW owners’ manuals, a thick raft of invoices and every MOT certificate since new, BMW warranty documentation and correspondence, the new vehicle invoice from March 2003, the fully stamped service booklet (entries detailed below), spare keys, and the V5C showing only 2 former keepers.
