Description
The BMW 02 series was introduced in Geneva Motor Show in 1966 as a sporting 2-door version of its New Class sedans. The shorter wheelbase permitted for agility and performance driven by its M10 in line 4-cylinder 1. 6lt engine. Soon after BMW executives proceeded with numerous revisions that included dual carburation (1600Ti/ 105 bhp), capacity enlargement (2002/ 105 bhp, 2002Ti/ 120 bhp), injection fuel delivery (2002Tii/ 130bhp) and turbocharging (2002 Turbo/ 170 bhp). In motorsports the 02 series became a Nurburgring 24hr and Trans Am Series winner while on public roads it became infamous as a police out-runner.
The 1602 offered was produced in 1969 in Chamonix over Blue leatherette. In the late 90s it was restored with new front and tailight housings to be refinished in most commendable Fjord metallic. The interior received a set of bucket seats with originals stored in color matching blue/ black cloth. The engine was overhauled with numerous performance upgrades including dual Weber 40DCOE carburation. It is currently offered fully service and FIVA certified.
