Description
In 1975, the Lancia Beta HPE (High Performance Estate) was introduced to expand the range, which already included a sedan, a coupe, and a spider. Designed to meet the needs of families, this unique three-door coupe offers a spacious trunk and high performance.
Based on the coupe, Pininfarina created a Targa version called the Spider in 1974, which was later produced by Zagato. For the HPE, the Turin-based coachbuilder used the elongated floor of the sedan and the front part of the coupe up to the doors. They redesigned the rear side window and the rear pillar to give the Beta a look halfway between a coupe and a station wagon. The hatch, connected to the roof, features a thin frame widened downwards, forming a simulated spoiler. The rear window is equipped with a structure inspired by Venetian blinds, filtering light to protect the contents of the trunk. This pattern is also present on the exterior up to 3/ 4 of the rear pillar.
The result is a unique coupe, combining elegance, sportiness, and the practicality of a station wagon, in line with Lancia's heritage. This adaptable character would later only be found on multi-space cars.
With the fourth series in 1981, the family coupe was renamed Beta H. P. Executive, emphasizing its sporty character. The lower satin strip of the tailgate now displays the full name inscription. The 1. 6 engine remained unchanged, while the two-liter engine now benefits from electronic injection, offering increased power of 122 hp while reducing consumption. Externally, the moldings all become matte black, and the grille adopts the typical trapezoidal chrome frame of Lancia, reminiscent of prestigious models of the past. The seat fabrics are also revised with a checkered pattern on the central band.
The offered Lancia Beta is a 1982 model equipped with a two-liter engine, in excellent condition both inside and out. Its regular maintenance has been ensured by its current owner. The technical inspection is up to date. This Italian estate car will offer you pleasure while retaining its family aspect.
