Description
Furlonger have recently acquired this Whipple supercharged Ford GT finished in Performance White over an Ebony Black interior. This example was delivered new to the USA and made its way to the UK in 2017 when it was sold via renowned marque specialist GT 101. The car was then sold to the current custodian in 2019 and has since remained part of his elaborate collection of classic and contemporary low-production supercars.
This Ford GT features an array of desirable modifications including Penske suspension, big brake kit, HRE wheels, rear bumper delete kit, and Stainless Works sports headers fitted to improve the car’s sonorous V8 engine note.
Furlonger have been fortunate enough to supply and maintain a number of Ford GTs, but few can contend with the outrageous performance and sheer presence of this example. The car will undergo an annual service and any required mechanical preparation via our workshops.
In anticipation of Ford Motor Company's 100th anniversary, a concept car was designed based on the marques most distinguished Le Mans contender, the GT40. Ford appointed Camilo Pardo, then head of Fords ‘’Living Legends’’ studio as chief designer of the GT, overseen by J. Mays (Chief Creative Officer of Ford), working closely with none other than Carroll Shelby in development for the project. Unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, the Ford GT40 concept car was well received.
After just 6 weeks from the unveiling of the concept car, Ford announced the official production of the GT, exhibiting three pre-production examples to the public in 2003 as part of the marques centenary celebrations, with first deliveries being aimed for the final quarter of 2004. Constructed between 2004 and 2006, a total of 4, 500 GTs were produced.
