Description
For sale through AB 4x4s Cleveland is this charming Land Rover Series 2a, its a 1969, 7 seater, hardtop.
We acquired this from a Scottish gentleman who undertook a sympathetic restoration over the last 3 years.
He didn't get round to really finishing it so now in our hands to do the necessary things. During his 3 year ownership he has tried to keep it as original as possible. The vehicle still remarkably retains its original engine matching the vin number, always nice to have. All chassis work was completed to a very nice standard. The new rear crossmember appears a very recent addition. Rest of the chassis is as it should be. We will however needle gun and underseal it for longevity. Below is a rundown of its spec-
-Engine
The original 2. 25 petrol unit that looks well maintained, the one to have! Runs like a swiss watch with no issues. We have detailed this in our workshop to look good for the owner. Just fitted a new choke cable.
-Gearbox
Again the original unit that runs exactly as you would expect.
-Bodywork
This was resprayed in Bronze green some time over the last 3 years, what I would call a sympathetic body restoration. Left some of the bumps to show its age. It is the standard of job that looks really nice but you wouldn't be scared to use it. Door tops are a recent addition. Retains its original Series 2a hinges and expensive Maltese front grille. We have added all new stainless steel door bolts.
Cappings are the best i have seen with an amazing patina. We have renewed all door seals. 2 brand new wing mirrors have been added.
-Bulkhead
This has had the necessary hidden welding to a professional standard and is now solid and ready for the next 20 years.
-Underneath
Chassis is absolutely pristine with no patches. It was stripped back and any welding was flush welded. We have just rebuilt the front dumb irons . We have needle gunned it and undersealed it for longevity. You will not need to do anything for many years to come.
We replaced the front leaf springs for new and all 4 shock absorbers. Also a new exhaust and new track rod ends. Now underneath is as good as the rest of the vehicle.
Tyres all look very recent and appear to have barely any wear.
-Inside
A nice period feel to this, 3 front seats with the correct patina (wouldn't fit new as they look right).
Smiths heater present along with all the usual Series 2a features.
We just added new floor pans, removed the tunnel to make good the bulkhead and painted them in 2k Bronze green.
Finished with 2 x heavy duty rubber mats.
To the rear are 2 galvanised framed bench seats making this a 7 seater.
So all in all this is a great opportunity to purchase a well sorted Land Rover Series 2a that will increase in price whilst costing so very little to run with no MOT or tax to pay for. This is not a £40k restoration but a nice sympathetic one that you can make improvements on throughout your ownership. You can of course rest assured that we will make sure everything is as it should be for the new owner. Call Anthony on the details below. We can deliver worldwide.
