EXTERIOR
Expertly crafted in the style of a ’72 Porsche 911 S, the classic curves of this incredible Restomod are an achingly pretty period guise for an all together more modern affair below. Starting life as a 1982 Porsche SC the masterful team at Ninemeister set about completely stripping, dipping and re-bodying the car, using genuine panels and months of fabrication to achieve a stunning 70’s style narrow body car.
Once fabrication work on the body was completed the entire shell of the car was e-coated to preserve the teams hours of work, before being treated to a period coat of Slate Grey to create their customers dream 911. Unassuming at first, the only real hints to the incredible performance beneath the period coachwork are the substantial duel exhaust tips, and contrasting Gold rear model badge which denotes this as one of Ninemeister’s trademark 9m11s’.
Invoices show paint, prep and fabrication work totalled over £96k, with an extensive list of part and labour costs detailing every aspect of this incredible build. Having covered less than 1800 miles since being completed in March 2021 condition of the car is exemplary; free from any blemishes the gorgeous solid grey finish is a perfect pairing for the elegant form of the 911’s body.
INTERIOR
Opening the door to the cabin reveals a meticulously curated space, incorporating many original 911 features with some modern refinement and an incredible level of fit and finish to really give the 9m11s a special feel. Oxblood red leather adorns much of the space, including the doors, dash inserts and basket weave sports seats, which feature nickel ferrules through their centres for a dose of period style. Bespoke seat mounts have been fabricated to sit lower in the cabin, allowing extra space for a taller driver and a more focused feel to the driving position.
Black leather offsets the the rich finish of the oxblood upholstery to give a balanced feel to the space, adoring the lower and upper dash to prevent glare, as well as the custom Momo Prototipo steering wheel which has been re-trimmed in a tonal black/ red leather combo to give a motorsport edge to an otherwise classically appointed cabin. Nestled beyond the steering wheel is the familiar layout of the air-cooled 911 instrument cluster, with the addition of a custom 9M rev counter that has its redline increased to an impressive 7, 500 rpm.
Amongst the traditional layout some tasteful modern refinements have been added to make the 9m11s substantially more comfortable than its 70’s counterpart. Air Conditioning has been retrofitted, alongside electric windows, remote central locking, Focal Audio speakers and a Blaupunkt Classic style head-unit which features DAB, Bluetooth and USB Inputs.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Costing over £26k the engine fitted to the 9m11s is an extraordinary piece of engineering. Replacing the standard SC engine, a bespoke 3. 6L 964 low inertia RS spec engine was built for the car, utilising a host of custom and racing parts including Mahle Pistons, 993 RS Camshafts, 9M RSR Con Rods, Motec Race Harness and much more. During the cars running in the engine was dynoed with an output of 297bhp and 293 lbft of torque, however Ninemeister state the potential of the car is in excess of 315bhp which is more than enough to make the lightweight 911 a properly quick car on the road.
Paired to the engine is a classic 915 5-Speed manual gearbox; fully rebuilt to handle the increased performance of the RS spec engine it creates a wholly engaging driving experience that allows the driver to fully utilise the incredibly responsive, free revving flat-6, whilst a custom exhaust system produces a purposeful rasp that fills the cabin as the car pulls through the gears.
Having covered less than 1800 miles since the rebuild, and also subject to a minor running in service in April 2021 at 400 miles, the mechanical condition of the car is faultless.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Rounding off the period look of this stunning restomod are a set of traditional Fuchs Braid alloys, finished in a stain silver with contrasting gloss black inserts. Matching Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tyres adorn each corner and show in almost new condition, having been used for such few miles just to run in the high performance engine.
Underpinning the car is a totally reworked suspension set up, with Bilstein shocks, Turbo steering arms, uprated anti-roll bars and bushes, as well as a modernised braking system with new Boxster callipers all around.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on 15/ 03/ 1983 by Porsche, Henley on Thames, this incredible project started life as a 911 SC, before being purchased by the current owner in 2017. Presenting as a solid example the car was selected as the base on which the owner would build his dream 911, enlisting the services of renowned specialists Ninemeister to help bring his vision to life. Works took over 3 years and totalled in excess of 1000 hours, including a full strip and dip of the shell before the bodywork was crafted into a stunning 1972 911S narrow body evocation.
A meticulous log of parts, labour and costs was created by the owner to document the full extent of the build to trace the vast list of upgrades and help keep track of the mounting cost of the project. Spreadsheets show a total cost for the project in excess of £250k to get the concourse standard finish once it completed restoration in 2020. Used sparingly it was then enlisted to us to find another suitable owner in mid 2021 and again in 2023 with the car covering just over 1000 miles in that time.
Present with the car is the original wallet with parts of the original book pack, stamped original service book, full log of Ninemeister work and costs, V5 and 2 keys.
