Description
Rare Rover SD1 3500 V8 Vanden Plas EFi, first registered December 1985. There is only believed to be 18 EFi examples left today on UK roads, making this SD1 especially rare. Formerly a Rover press car, kindly confirmed by the very helpful, SD1 car club, adding to its value and desirability. This is the highest specification SD1 you could buy in 1985. Finished in the best colour combination of Black with Grey leather. The car has a large history file, with a large selection of invoices dating back to the 1980's, displaying how well it has been maintained. Work done May 2024 new A/ C compressor fitted and re-gas, new gas bonnet struts fitted, engine oil and filter changed, new plugs, plus new water pump fitted and coolant change.
The flagship model was created when Rover introduced a 190 bhp fuel-injected version of its V8. The new derivative was originally only available in the Vitesse model, but from 1984 onwards it was also offered in the luxury Vanden Plas range, badged as the Vanden Plas EFi. To meet the demands of the luxury executive car market, where automatic transmission tended to be preferred, Rover first offered an auto as an option in the Vitesse, but later withdrew the option to help lure customers to the plush Vanden Plas EFi instead which had all the standard comforts of the Vitesse, such as electric mirrors, windows and locks, a trip computer, headlight washers, an adjustable steering column and a four-speaker stereo (something special at that time). Additionally, it added as standard leather seats, rear headrests and headrest cushions (velour cloth was a no-cost option) an electrically operated sunroof (available on all models) and cruise control; the only option being air-conditioning. 0-60mph 8. 2 seconds, top speed 130mph, 22. 8mpg.
