WRB 700L is a UK supplied home market car was built on the 18th May 1972 and supplied new by Hollingdrakes of Stockport, Cheshire with overdrive, heater and static seat belts. The history file with this TR6 suggests this was very much an older restoration before a ‘new’ owner in 2009 purchased the car from a friend who had never used it and took it onto the next level.
On initial purchase the body was removed to ahead of a full inspection of the chassis and running gear. The chassis was found to be in excellent order, nicely painted and therefore left alone. The underside of the body was also found to be equally as impressive and just treated to waxoyling. The engine and gearbox were removed, the engine then stripped and rebuilt using a Kent fast road cam and modified unleaded head. The fuel system was overhauled using a new uprated fuel pump, stainless steel injector pipes and re-conditioned injectors. The injector unit was re-calibrated and modified for the fast road cam. The distributor was modified, a front mount oil cooler was fitted and also an alloy radiator and electric fan. A fast road stainless exhaust and manifold was fitted and on completion the car made 165BHP on the rolling road - a quick TR6. The gearbox and overdrive were rebuilt and the rear suspension modified with SPAX adjustable struts and springs and front arms were poly bushes to stiffen the front end up.
With all the new mechanical components re-fitted, the body was mounted back onto the chassis with new a new mounting kit and door gaps set. All new door seals and glass were fitted, as was new brightwork. The hood frame and mechanism were stripped and re-painted and a new mohair hood fitted. The seats and door cards were cleaned up and detailed, the carpets replaced. To finish off the trim a new woodrim steering wheel and door cappings were fitted. Final work included some further modifications to include an alloy fuel tank and Halogen headlights, plus the wheels were shot blasted and painted and the car ready for the road.
