This Rolls-Royce was first supplied by Mann Egerton of Berkley Street, London, to Stuart Creggy Esq of Holborn on the 20th March 1973 and it remained in that ownership until 1982 when it was purchased by Harold Laurier Ltd. In 1987, it appears to have moved to West Sussex with a Mr Kernhan and remained with him until the 2000s. It was continuously maintained throughout this period by main dealers Harwoods of Pulborough. A new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted in 2021. In September of that year, mechanical work costing £2900 was carried out and included a specialist carburettor rebuild, a full service and more. In 2022, electronic ignition was installed, together with new air trunking, a Bosch rear fog lamp and a new condenser. A new battery was fitted in September. The last MOT test was carried out in 2021, and from the MOT records contained within the file, the current mileage of 61035 appears to be correct.
Now, the Rolls-Royce is in lovely condition and a rare example of a Silver Shadow Series I in such original and well maintained order, it is certainly not your average down-at-heal rust bucket! The brightwork, paintwork and Everflex rood are all difficult to fault, as is the interior woodwork and upholstery. A short road test revealed that the Rolls performs as one would expect. An incomplete tool kit is supplied, plus sheepskin rugs, four new spare tyres, a 1991 chauffer’s log book, a chauffer’s hat and the private registration number.
The history file contains the original handbook, numerous invoices from the 1980s to the 2020s, tax discs dating from 1994, many MOT test certificates from 1983 at 38951 miles, an HPI from 2016, original purchase correspondence, two original service schedules (with service stamps from new to 1999), the original warranty, an R-R and Bentley 1972 worldwide Sales and Service booklet, the cassette radio player manual, radiomobile instructions, a previous V5C and the current V5C registration certificate.
