With its airplane tail fins and dual bullet tail lights, few American cars are more recognizable than the iconic 1959 Cadillac Convertibles. In 1959, Cadillac design was truly glamorous, and it made it clear that the owner of a '59 Cadillac exemplified these traits. The bullet style front grilles sat between the dual headlights on either side and gave the car a jewel like appearance, a truly STUNNING car. The tall rear fins with dual bullet-shaped taillights, along with the faux grille at the rear, added to the elevated and luxurious appearance of the 1959 Cadillacs. In 1959, Cadillac offered two distinct convertible models: the Eldorado Biarritz, the top-of-the-line model, and the Series 62, the base model. Since the Series 62 convertibles were comparatively more affordable, with an MSRP of $5, 455, they sold almost ten times as many as the Biarritzes. Of the nearly 71, 000 Series 62 Cadillacs produced in 1959, only 11, 130 were the convertible model, which was about 15% of total production. Under the hood of this 1959 Cadillac is a 390 cubic inch V8 engine with a single 4-barrel carburetor that once produced 325 horsepower.
