Description
Just arrived at The Garage!
1933 Austin 10/ 4 Cabriolet
(previously sold by us twice!)
Offered here is a delightful example, which has had just five owners from new and remained in single family ownership for 80 years.
First registered in London on 20th October 1933, it was purchased second-hand by a Mrs Agnes Suhler two years later. Shortly after purchasing the car, Mrs. Suhler moved to Roedean, near Brighton, the car residing in a small timber motor house at her home.
During the years prior to the war, the Austin was used regularly, including at least two trips to Scotland and it was to remain in service throughout the war, being used for voluntary work with the local hospitals. This work was to continue until around 1960.
Mrs. Suhler gave up driving in 1964 and the car passed to her great nephew the following year and the car has remained in his hands since.
The Austin was used as daily transport for about eight years , before being taken off the road for a major restoration in the mid 1970’s.
Since then it has been used for occasional pleasure motoring, proving very reliable in true Austin fashion.
The car was featured in an advertisement for Philips car radios many years
ago and a copy of this advert is supplied. Also included are several photos
of the Austin taken in the mid 1930’s and also the 1960’s. A buff RF60
logbook is supplied, along with numerous bills and previous MOT
certificates, some dating back to the early ‘60’s.
There is a current MOT certificate valid until March 2025 and less than 50 miles have been covered since a major service was undertaken. There is also included a prized FIVA ID card which provides a basic summary of the cars history, authenticity and specification and this is required for all international events.
In excellent condition and very smartly presented in its livery of Grey and
Black, with dark blue leather trim, this is an opportunity to acquire a
charming and very useable small Austin with extremely good provenance.
