Description
With us here at RFH Classics we have this 1972 (K) Triumph Stag 3. 0 V8 Manual finished in White with the contrasting Black trim. The Stag has to be one of the iconic 2+2 Sports Tourer's of its era and was introduced in 1970. It drew its design from the Italian designer Giovanni Micholetti who was recognised as one the 20th century's prolific car designers whose other works included the TR4 and TR5. This particular example is an early 1972 car and is commonly known as the MKI with the MKII being introduced in 1973. That said this car does now feature the later GKN style 5 Spoke Alloy wheels, all of which are in good condition.
The interior has seen the Teak style dashboard being replaced by a Piano Black replacement that personally I think suits the car well and had it been offered from new probably would have been a popular option. It wasn't until recently I learnt that Leather was planned for the Stag but never got offered as an option and so the interior features standard Black vinyl seat coverings. The Triumph Stag has always been popular with buyers who have younger ones as unlike many open top sports cars of the period it offered the rear seat with the safety T Bar protection system. Supplied with the is a colour coded Hardtop in great condition.
Under the bonnet of this British sports car sits an aluminium 3. 0 ltr V8 petrol engine that is running super unleaded and is paired to a Manual 4 speed Gearbox with Overdrive on 3rd and 4th. It is nice to see the original Triumph block hasn't been replaced with the Rover V8 although it has seen the cooling system updated with a later style coolant tank. In the office we have the original brown Stag owner's manual and wallet along with a selection of invoices and previous MOT tests from the former owner.
