1989 Austin Moke
The Mini Moke were designed by Sir Alec Issigonis under Austin/ Morris who went on to design the Austin Mini.
'Moke' is slang for a mule or donkey and intended for military use to parachute from aeroplanes.
This Moke which is a true Mini Moke, not a copy, was built under Austin / Rover license in Portugal in1988 and registered in 1989 .( Others were built in Australia)
Always kept garaged and the box chassis was sprayed internally in 2002 with wax oil to preserve it.
In 2018 it was professionally stripped and resprayed with its laser matched exact colour,( as in 'The Prisoner'- see photos.
Well looked after by good mechanics, the 998 cc petrol with recognisable engine parts , like carburettors and spark plugs.
Both fun and practical, this useful and characterful car is a fine example of the popular marque and one of only 119 UK road registered.
Starts, runs and drives.
