Description
1936 Derby Bentley 4 ¼ Litre All Weather 4 Door Tourer by Thrupp & Maberly. Design number B1075/ E, believed to be one of only 9 examples to carry this body. Originally delivered to Viscountess Scarsdale of Kedleston Hall in June 1936, replacing her 3 ½ lite Park Ward drophead coupe. During the 1950’s the car spent time in the USA before returning to the UK in 1995 via well-known vintage motor car specialist, Charles S Crail of Santa Barbara, California. The car was sent back to his London address at Queensgate Mews, Kensington, London before being purchased by the last owner who has owned the car for over 25 years. During his tenure much work has been undertaken by marque specialists and the car has seen regular use in long distance touring and showing. Recent work has included; a radiator recore, gearbox overhaul, new brake linings, new wheel bearings, new petrol pumps, new clutch and fitment of overdrive. An extremely rare example of a very useable 4 ¼ Derby Bentley.
