Description
This extremely rare 109" Series 2 is chassis no 361 of the 1959 model year.
Only 1089 utilities were built in 1959 and most were worked to death with a handful remaining.
Wesley as he is known was the 1st Land Rover supplied by Akeds of Blackpool on acquiring the Land Rover franchise.
Registered as PFV 389 on March 18th 1959.
It was supplied to Cliff Adamson for use in his family's light haulage company.
Asonishingly it was used to move mobile homes up to 22ft long and 7ft 6 in wide around the country.
There are several magazine articles documenting the history and the owners over the years which make fascinating reading
It was driven from Warrington to Surrey to its current owner!
Little used in the last few years hence the sale.
Lots of original features incl sparto lights, one piece doors (a 1959 only quirk) early front valance, original tailgate, and of course the original Blackpool number plate.
The bodywork is very straight and tidy with the rear tub in superb order.
The faded sign writing is amazing!
The bostrum seats are incredibly rare and very comfy!
The 2ltr diesel engine starts well and sounds nice.
The gearbox is good and clutch works well.
It will need a small amount of fettling due to standing in storage for a while.
Will be a great vehicle to take to shows or logging, dogs and kids adventures!
I would say it would be impossible to find another with this provenance.
