Description
Brought the car back from South Africa, where it had been fully rebuilt from the ground up, spec is 1776 cc ., Billet w110 cam, new cam followers , chromoly pushrods, counterweighted crank, lightened flywheel, slightly flowed Empi heads with 40mm inlet valves, 34. 5mm exhaust valves, strong single valve springs, slightly higher compression, valve gear spaced and shimmed, twin 44 IDF Webers, electronic ignition, Stainless exhaust with side box, remote oil filter and oil cooler plus standard oil cooler. New oil pump. All new bearings. All engine components balanced. Gearbox rebuilt. I have plenty of bills and photographs from the previous owner to show the build level. I brought it with a couple of other cars and thought it would be a good driver. The one thing i forgot was, how small cars were back then. Now I look at the original minis and they look tiny, where I thought they were great in the 70's. Being 6'0, its a bit tight for me.
Starts runs and stops well with EMPI disc brakes and drums to rear. It sounds awesome !! and doesn't half go.....
Nicely finished off with really soft leather interior. The whitewalls are only finishers.
Paintwork is lovely. Really is a stunning car.
I am not an expert on these cars, or VWs in general, so may not be able to answer technical questions. Best plan is to come and have a look. Car is located near Stanhope in Co. Durham.
