Inspired by the original legendary GT40, the car which Ford built to beat Ferrari at Le Mans, the Ford GT has cemented its status as one of the great modern supercars. The first generation of Ford GT which ran production from 2005 to 2006 was very much an old school affair with a 5. 4L V8 and 6-speed manual transmission but Ford brought the GT into the new age with a second generation which started production in 2016 and ended in 2022.
With a much stronger focus on aerodynamics and performance the new Ford GT is built on a bespoke carbon fibre tub and houses a 3. 5L twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 and dual clutch transmission which is integrated within the rear suspension. Motorsport engineering encompasses the new Ford GT sharing key design elements from some of the fastest racers in F1 and Le Mans. This particular 'Carbon Series' edition includes options such as carbon fibre wheels and a lightweight exhaust system to shave 18kg off the car's overall weight.
Only built in Left-Hand-Drive and with the vast majority of the 1, 350 produced staying in North America, the Ford GT is an extremely rare car in the UK with only around 30 cars believed to have been supplied to the UK in total including special editions. Fundamentally a racing car with low-slung hypercar looks its historical significance and exceptional performance makes an excellent case for the Ford GT as one of the most unique and exciting modern supercars on the market.
