'In these cars we see the fruits of all the development effort to produce an unmatched high performance sports car. The classic mainstream production 911 is a 2. 4.' - Peter Morgan, 'Original Porsche 911'. For 1972, all Porsche 911 variants received the 2. 4-litre (actually 2, 341cc) engine, by which time the range-topping 911S featured the stronger Type 915 five-speed gearbox and 6"x15" Fuchs alloy wheels as standard. The most obvious external change from the outgoing 2. 2-litre models was the addition of a small chin spoiler, adopted to improve high-speed stability. Porsche developed a reputation early on for their surprising performance from their small displacement rear-engine sports and racing cars. These "giant killers" could outperform cars with much higher horsepower figures by making light cars with incredible handling. This combination gave Porsches their truly unique driving characteristics and solidified their dedicated following of Porsche enthusiasts.

Starting in 1964 with the original 911, Porsche has produced a line of six-cylinder rear-engine sportscars that could compete with much more powerful cars thanks to their low weight and superior handling. The 911 quickly became an icon of performance and handling, offering a driving experience unlike anything else. The 911 has continuously evolved into a more sophisticated, powerful, and capable driving machine, as well as a reliable and usable car. 1969 ushered in the first major changes to the iconic Porsche 911. Retaining the unique and successful rear engine layout as well as the same basic styling, the majority of the changes to the 911 were internal. Dimensionally, the rear track and wheelbase grew, while the overall length stayed the same as the earlier cars. Mechanical fuel injection debuted this year as well as in top-of-the-line 911 S and the new 911 E, and later in the 2. 4-Liter 911 T, or Touring. The 911 T/ E, such as ours, received its name from Einspritzung, the German term for injection. Engine size increased from 2. 0-Liters to 2. 2-Liters, and finally in 1972, to 2. 4-Liters, making it the final and fully evolved version of the original long-hood 911 model, arguably the most collectible version today.

Our car was manufactured in 1973 and sold new by Kline Porsche of Indianapolis, Indiana to its first, a Dr. Heavrin of Commons Drive, Indianapolis whose name is in the Official Porsche Maintanence Record that we still have with the car in its original Book Pack! He ordered the car in the rare and beautiful colour of Green Metallic and specified the 5 Speed Gearbox, Fuchs Wheels, Frankfurt Radio, Tinted Glass. We have the original Window Sticker with the car and come lovely period documents. There is some history from the US from the Eighties also until the car was imported into the UK in 1999, so she has been here over 25 years now! The car has only had 4 previous owners in the UK with the last owner having her for 8 years. The car had a full Body Restoration in 2013 costing over £20k, which is just starting to show a few bubbles here and there which you can see in the photos, but the paint is lovely and consistent all round still. In last 4 years over £32k has been spent on a full mechanical overhaul including Engine and Gearbox Rebuilds, New Interior, Brake Overhaul, Tyres and Wheels Bearings, Fuel and Oil Tanks, Starter Motor and alternator, Headlamps, Clutch and suspension overhaul, Rear end repair, all these invoices are on file from Porsche Specialists which make this an amazing opportunity for someone!

The car drives wonderfully, has the desirable 5 Speed gearbox, has had a fortune spent on her. She is the most desirable 2. 4 Litre engine which appears to be Matching Numbers and also in the best colour available! The recent Service History is second to none and she has a fresh MOT with No Advisories!
