Description
A 1973 RT3 in great condition. The RT series ran from 1970-1973 in the US and started the 2-stroke success boom before the UK got the DT series, the year later.
It is from the last year of production and so has a 32 bhp engine, with a net weight of 119 kg and 21 inch front wheel, making it a very nimble bike.
The bike was imported and restored and then registered in the UK by me.
Fully operational with many new service parts, it starts well and performs nicely. This is not a show-queen, but is in rather fine fettle. It performs well on or off road.
Powder coated frame and body parts.
New ignition coil, battery and plugs.
Carb service with new jets.
New oil pump renovation kit fitted and modern non-return valve.
New cables in correct grey sheathing.
New seat cover, rust free seat pan.
New fork seals, new rear shocks and swinging arm bushes.
Replaced crank oil seals, gearbox bearings, small end bearing.
Fully functioning decompressor for easy starting, can be started in gear.
Tyres are 400 miles old, new tubes.
Renovated clocks.
All lights working.
Stainless fasteners throughout. UK registered, V5 in my name, no tax or MOT required. Certificate of Authenticity to prove model, build date and matching numbers. Pictures of bike pre-refurb and during with receipts. Electronic copy of Service manual, Owner’s Manual and Parts Manual.
Spare keys.
Bike is painted in simple silver 1972 RT2 colours [each year has different scheme], all paintwork in good condition. No rust in the tank or anywhere else. I have applied the orange wrap vinyl graphics to add a stronger 70’s look and made a matching badge for the silencer [original available]. All this can be peeled off, with zero damage, if the stock look is preferred [see 1 photo pre-vinyl application].
I tend to use larger bikes for more distant runs, so could do with making space for another project - I don't want to get this one dirty now!
