Description
This Alvis has been lovingly restored over the years. 20 years ago the body was removed for total repaint and wood frame restoration where required. The chassis was restored and repainted. 5 years later the engine was totally rebuilt along with starter motor overhaul and distributor drive, water pump and generator. The 4 hydraulic suspension units were sent back to the UK for total overhaul. The car is complete and original. A new diff housing and higher ratio crown wheel and pinion brought from Red Triangle were fitted when back axle was overhauled along with all new brake shoes. Last but not least the steering box was overhauled and new top bearing fitted. The steering joints have all been renewed in the last 18 months. Interesting story led me to this car. I once read an article about a gentleman who had a Bentley and an Alvis silver crest. He preferred driving the Alvis as the suspension/ ride was better. The Alvis has full synchromesh gears, even built in jacks front and rear. Still fitted but not operational but would work with some copper pipework added.
