Description

Very rare Y Tourer, the only post war 4 seater open top MG. Of the 877 cars produced, mostly exported, only a dozen or so are believed to be currently on the road in the UK. Original RHD car exported to Australia in late 1949. Bought in 1995 while living there and shipped back with us to UK in 1997. Much loved and meticulously maintained since then by MG experts, Lackford Motor Engineering, with full history. Full engine rebuild/ unleaded conversion and overhaul in 2012 at cost of over £11k. In excellent mechanical condition and presents very well overall, with the patina of the enamel black paint. With independent front suspension, rack & pinion steering, and synchromesh on 2nd to 4th gears, it is a lovely car to drive. With 1, 250 cc twin carb XPAG engine and sharing most mechanicals with the more ubiquitous TC/ TD models, spares are easily available. Used regularly with lap belts front and back, with harness attachments for the rear seats. Children now grown up and my wife and I have recently bought a classic 2 seater sports car, hence reason for sale.
