Description
A very tidy 1937 sports classic MG TA in Ivory with a red interior. This is a delightful little car that drives well and certain to put a smile on your face whenever you take it for a run.
With the University Motors engine rebuild plate and the fact that the chassis number carries an MG number plate of the sequence provided by university Motors in period, It is possible that TA 1514 was supplied by University Motors.
The MG was recommissioned in 2015. The sympathetic restoration included frame sections replaced (the original under scuttle cross member with MG body number 6608 is still in place), new floor boards and side screen box.
It is believed that the TA body is original as are the doors, bonnet and wings. The chrome is probably original. The radiator cools well and the oil pressure is constant. At the same time the front dampers were replaced as well as the brake pipes. The gear box and clutch work well. Traffic indicators were fitted, working off the period switch on the dash and operate though the front and rear side lights.
I acquired the car in June 2020. The car went through a thorough check by Paul Follows at PF Autos. See photo library and you will understand this was a detailed inspection and all issues were addressed at that time. We added a new soft top, period steering wheel and a new steering box.
Last year I had a new fuel pump fitted together with a new dynamo. The vehicle spent many years in Holland before coming back to the UK in 2015. We believe the original colour was indeed Ivory, contrasted beautifully with the red seats and door cards. The car is a joy to drive and goes on many short trips to my local pubs throughout the summer months.
