Description
1990 VW Corrado 1. 8 16v - MOT until 6/ 04/ 2025.
We have owned this car since mid 2020, but the time has come to let it go as it is my sons car and he has bought a more modern car and we don`t have the space to keep it.
The work we have done to it in our ownership i will try to summarize as follows:
Fuel metering head unit (sent to a company in Germany for overhaul for £400), Fuel pump (in tank pump and main fuel pump), Fuel tank straps, Fuel accumulator, Fuel injectors, Fuel filter, Alternator regulator, cambelt, air filter, oil + filter, Starter motor, Battery, Water pump pulley, CV boot, Tie rod ball joint, Steering rack gaiter, N/ S/ R Wheel bearing, Brake pads all round, Upgraded headlight units, FAKE BBS alloy wheels, Adjustable coil-overs, Drivers seat has been recovered in original material, O/ S window motor, Full Interior carpet,
This list is not conclusive, But that is just some of the parts that I can remember.
The car has covered just under 230, 000 miles, so the warranty has just run out (joke), and it will come with some spare parts that I have accumulated over the last few years (if you want them) which include:
Original wheels (Rallye as in one of the photo`s, but will need tyres), Original steering wheel (as in one of the photo`s), Original headlights (but the reflectors will need a refurb), Spare window motors and mechanisms for both sides, and a few other bits and pieces.
As stated, the MOT has been carried out a few weeks ago, with an advisory power steering rack oily, but I think it is more like the pipework more than the rack. But it is a car that is nearly 34 years old so it will have its faults like:
The Tracking needs doing as the steering has been apart before the MOT (I did try to get it done locally but it was too low for the garage to get on the ramps), it could do with a wheel bearing on the O/ S/ R as it is slightly noisy when driving, Spoiler sort of works but I have disconnected it at the motor because it will blow a fuse occasionally so the motor probably needs looking at, the trim on the passenger door needs sorting as it has shrunk (as in one of the photo`s), the sunroof headlining needs looking at because it has come unstuck in places so we have left it retracted so we can see through the sunroof, and also the Steering advisory on the MOT.
There is a small amount of rot by the rear towing eye but it does not affect the MOT, apart from that the car is pretty much solid. I have had to weld a patch under the battery tray when we first purchased the car. Also the bodywork needs some attention if you want a perfect car as it does have some lacquer peel on some of the N/ S and the bonnet has quite a few stone chips in, so the pictures make it look better than it is, but make up your own mind.
The wheels are FAKE BBS, which are starting to show there age with marks and tarnish on the chrome.
I will be sorry to see it go, but we just don`t have the space to keep it.
I will require £100 deposit to secure please, due to time wasters in the past. (sorry)
Any questions please feel free to ask.
