Description
1993 VW Corrado VR6 in Aqua Blue. It is a wonderful car with fairly low mileage for a vehicle 30+ years old now... I bought it nearly 8 years ago as a private buy from a gent in Cornwall as I'd wanted one for years.
I have spent a lot of time and money going round the car, mainly improving the mechanics with a full engine rebuild, refreshed suspension, new brakes, new steering rack and many other bits and pieces.
Cosmetically, the car is fairly tidy but there are marks on the body commensurate with its 31 year life. There is NO rust on the car bar one very small 20p piece sized bleb just under the rear spoiler. I had some remedial work done in 2018 which tidied the rear of the car and one of the sills. The alloys were reconditioned in 2018 also and they are still in good condition, bar one that I kerbed not long ago unfortunately.
List of all I have done here:
- 2023/ 24: Engine Rebuild with New Piston Rings, Crank polish, New bearings/ shells, Head and Block skim, New Valve Stem oil seals and Valve stems, New MLS Head Gasket and head bolts, New oil seals
- 2023/ 24: New clutch, oil cooler, Chains and guides/ tensioner
- 2024: Refurbished steering rack
- 2022: Front subframe off and painted, new engine mounts and bushes
- 2022: Headlamp covers and Headlamp loom added for better lighting performance.
- 2021: New fuel pump and sender
- 2021: Injectors cleaned, new seals, new ignition leads, New Bosch battery
- 2021: Wipers replaced with Audi TT wipers for better performance (originals kept)
- 2020: SWG Scuttle cover, new bonnet insulation
- 2020: Inlet, fan housing, various bracket powder coated and engine loom wrapped carefully to help tidy engine bay
- 2019: New front suspension springs and shocks. Wishbone bushes replaced with stronger bushes from an R32 (OEM+ Upgrade)
I've replaced various trim / interior pieces. I purchased a spare interior and made the best out of the two sets. New Gear stick gaitor and fresh Corrado car mats. This really has been a labour of love - I am sure I have forgotten many other bits the I have done on the car! I have a full box file with all receipts and all MOTs back to when the car was new.
Only niggles in day to day use are the central locking where the pump will run on when opening for about 15 seconds (there is a vacuum leak in the boot which requires addressing) and the boot light is currently not working.
Everything else works. Sunroof and spoiler work absolutely fine (spoiler off the button and >50mph). I have 3 keys for the car and the V5C. All the spares I have will go with the car. The registration plate will not come with the car. A wonderful car, one I had been desperate to buy for many years. I finally found this fairly local to me at the time and I have really enjoyed driving it and giving it the love it deserves to allow it a new leash of life with the fresh engine and mechanics. This should see the new owner well for a number of years to come with minimal effort.
On an open A or B road that engine really sings and the steering gives beautiful feedback. It's a great car for trips away or long weekends I find...
The only reason I am selling is that I have the opportunity to purchase another bucket list car and I only have the single garage space! I have enjoyed this car so very much.
