The Enchanting Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S: A Rare Jewel
Rarely has the team at HooG Selections been more passionate than with this latest acquisition. A Maserati Quattroporte from the fifth generation. You might think, "That's common enough," but rest assured, of the ultimate Sport GT S version (with a space between GT and S!), only 1, 847 units were produced, and in this breathtaking color scheme, even fewer...
An Italian heritage of fire
The fifth generation of the Maserati Quattroporte, designed by Pininfarina, debuted in September 2003 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Significantly larger and incomparable to its predecessor, the Quattroporte initially featured the renowned 4. 2 V8 with 400 hp coupled with a robotized manual gearbox called 'Cambiocorsa'. Despite the beautiful exterior and interior design, the creamy Ferrari V8 engine, and its driving characteristics being immediately well-received, that aforementioned gearbox caused some setbacks.
A symphony on wheels: The experience of driving the Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S
Fortunately, in Italy, it was also realized that the Quattroporte could only truly succeed with a conventional automatic transmission. Thus, starting from the 2007 model year, a fantastic-shifting ZF 6-speed automatic became available. It got even better: two model years later, from the 2008 production year, the so-called Quattroporte S was equipped with the new 4. 7 V8 delivering 430 hp instead of 400 hp and, more importantly, with more torque: 490 Nm instead of 450 Nm.
An emotional rollercoaster on four wheels
Fast forward to 2021 and our Quattroporte Sport GT S, again the ultimate version. While equipped with the same 4. 7 V8, ZF six-speed automatic, and just 10 hp more compared to the S, this Sport GT S is an entirely different car. Gone are the chrome round exhausts, replaced by two enormous anthracite-colored and flat exhaust tips that distinguish the Sport GT S. And let the exhaust system be the highlight of this Quattroporte...
The opera of sound and speed
In normal mode, it's potent yet refined sounding until the driver presses the 'Sport' button on the dashboard. Then, this Quattroporte transforms from a distinguished luxury top limousine into a true sports car, no, a supercar! The experience brought by this transformation in the car's sound is indescribable. The combination of the exhaust note and the fiery-sounding V8 as the RPM rises is absolutely unmatched.
A love letter to Italian elegance
The immense smile of the superb actor Omar Sy gives a hint of the emotion this Quattroporte evokes. Forgive this writer, also your advisor on this car; it's definitely worth watching the clip, or better yet, the entire film. The Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S shown here, originally delivered by Ferrari-Maserati Antwerp, abbreviated as FMA, is finished in the stunning color 'Grigio Granito'.
An Italian romance on four wheels
This deep metallic dark gray color pairs beautifully with the 'Sabbia' full leather interior, complemented by exceptionally beautiful Bois de Rose wood trim and wonderfully soft Alcantara headlining in 'Pearl Beige'. As you can see, only impeccably chosen Italian attire with pieces from Finamore, Incotex, Boglioli, and Santoni is missing...
An invitation to a passionate ride
It's clear that the history of this Maserati reads as smoothly as this praise. The maintenance booklet is nothing short of fully stamped, confirming the impeccable condition of the Quattroporte. Pristine.
