Description
Totally original spec Mark 1 Golf Gti in good operational and cosmetic condition just two previous owners which we have owned for the last 28 years.
We bought the car in March 1996 and then used it occasionally taking the mileage to 122, 000 miles by 1999.
We have all the MOT certificates from 1995 to 1999.
The car was then rested in a garage from 2000 till 2015 when it was then given a light recommissioning restoration. All wear and tear items were replaced and a touch-up respray carried out. Four refurbished original alloy wheels with brand new period Pirelli tyres were fitted.
The car passed its MOT with a mileage of 123, 571 miles at the end of September 2015 with no advisories.
Since 2016 the car has been annually MOT tested and used occasionally for shows and fun drives.
It’s last MOT was two years ago which passed with no advisories. Since then it has been MOT and tax exempt as a historic vehicle.
It was most recently serviced 1, 000 miles ago less than 2 years ago by my local VW specialist.
Over recent years the Golf has benefitted from a new standard exhaust, suspension, brakes, tyres and battery. Only minor cosmetic paintwork carried out within its 34 year lifetime.
Its by no means a concours condition show car but is a remarkably original good condition car. The original handbook, cassette player, seats and carpets are there as well as a 1982 original brochure and price list.
It occasionally suffers the well known hot start difficulties and the sloppy gearbox linkages - a new set are supplied ready to be fitted. The brakes are a hefty push with minimum servo assist - exactly as it left the factory!
Otherwise it drives and handles superbly and whether as a fun car for right now to drive along and relive the 1980's or a car to spend a little more on to bring the car into show condition and achieve a great £25k investment into the future, its a real opportunity.
