Description
A Lotus Elan Sprint DHC, 1972, first registered on 1st January 1973. Owned by me for over 40 years. Mechanically it is in excellent condition and drives as it should. The body work is good with some minor stone chips and a couple of areas of gel coat cracks on the rear wings.
It is stored in a heated and dehumidified garage and comes with indoor/ outdoor car cover and all documents/ receipts covering my ownership. A Lotus workshop manual and various spares are also available if required.
Club Lotus valuation in May 2022: £54, 000. It was MOTd in May this year with no advisories. I purchased the car in 1983 in a fire damaged state. I understand this was the result of an electrical short on an unfused circuit behind the dashboard likely caused by a wire being trapped when a new Spyder space frame chassis was fitted not long before the fire.
The car was rebuilt over the following 18 months. Consequently, much of what you see dates from this period.
It now has a custom wiring loom with 12 way fuse box (wiring diagram provided in electronic and paper formats).
In 2006 the differential was rebuilt, new solid drive shafts, rear bearings, hubs and adjustable shock absorbers from Tony Thompson were fitted together with reconditioned brake callipers.
A full engine rebuild and gearbox overhaul were completed in 2012. It is fitted with Lumenition electronic ignition and full width S3 radiator with twin electric fans (original radiator and fan are available).
The car has covered 24, 787 miles since the 1983 rebuild.
