The Appeal

When General Motors took on the Lotus brand, they quickly began sifting through the company's briefs and back catalogues for something to make their mark - what they settled on was a masterstroke. The M100 Elan was a recapture of the legendary, much-missed car's spirit, while remaining light, small and affordable. It was effectively the perfect alternative to the likes of the Mazdas now peppering the country - though it maintained a deliberately, almost retro-futuristic stance.

This Turbocharged Elan comes to us with a good part service history, and a host of recent work completed - as well as an advisory-free MOT until May 2025. The vendor informs us that it drives very well, holding the road with confidence, and the turbocharged engine runs smoothly with good oil pressure - making for an eminently usable car ready and waiting for its new owner.

The Condition

The body is in very good condition with no obvious dents or dings

Some light wear to the paintwork, commensurate with age

This is mostly just small scratches and chips

Pop-up headlights are lifting correctly with no issue

Lotus alloys look in fine fettle

Full set of tyres fitted in May 2023, and they're still with plenty of tread

Underside appears to be in good order with no faults we can discern

Two-tone leather seats in black and red, which are in good condition

Some light wear on the driver's bolster

Dashboard is clean and well-presented

Had a new window regulator fitted in May 2024

Manual transmission with 5 gears

Engine bay looks in good order

New brake shoes fitted in 2023
