FORD CORSAIR (1966)
RARE ‘83’ MODEL WITH DELUXE BODY, HIGH COMPRESSION
ENGINE, BENCH SEATS & COLUMN CHANGE
DESCRIPTION - Named CORSAIR 83 because, it seems, that the Pre Cross-Flow Kent engines were rated at 83bhp compared with the normal high compression engines fitted to Corsair GTs which were rated at 78bhp. 83 badges were fitted on the rear wings in the same position as GT badges. The 83 was a South African export only model.
HISTORY - The car was made by Ford UK in November 1965 then shipped to South Africa in knock down form and assembled at the Port Elizabeth plant. First registered 27th FEBRUARY 1966. Freshly imported into UK.
HISTORIC VEHICLE - TAX AND MOT EXEMPT
CONDITION – As per photographs. Unrestored but some of the panels have been repainted. Additional later instrumentation and radio. Interior appears to be original apart from carpets – needs trim redoing round door openings. The roof is painted black - it’s not vinyl.
