Description
TRIUMPH STAG Mk1 1970 XPW313H
A very special car, your chance to buy a slice of Triumph history.
LD20 Commission number after 18 happy years of ownership it’s time to put this lovely car up for sale. It was the first Stag ever sold and is mentioned in J Taylor’s book together with a photo. Unlike many Stags this car was never a rust bucket and is believed to have all of its original bodywork panels. The rarity value of the car is enhanced as it has, to a greater or less extent, kept the vast majority of its components, interior trim (except carpets) and as well as the body panels mentioned, since new. Instead, it has been maintained painstakingly to a high standard in all it’s 54 years, which given the models stormy early days is a delight to find. As you’d expect, the cars number and the registration ‘XP’ came from Norfolk matching its original sale in Norwich.
The car is in lovely condition, I am only the third owner having been looked after since it rolled out of the showroom of Mann Egerton in Norwich on the 18th July 1970. There’s a decent history file with plenty of photos going back to the first owner. It comes with a hard top and all of the early car’s distinct features, which have been adhered to in the past 18 years.
The car is in excellent order and is practical as it is beautiful. It’s never overheated and has been a dream to own. Poor health is restricting my use of this lovely car and a small piece of motoring history.
Everything works well, including the electric windows and Over-drive on third and fourth gears. It comes as a proper soft top and hardtop. There is an extensive history file with back up photos.
Appreciating in value these are now getting the attention they deserve. This is a very practical run-around or great as a Grand Tourer.

Despite what Grand Tour say, this Stag has never overheated! .. and the V8 is every bit as good and Rover’s V8 lump that came from GM in the States.
This is a private sale but viewing can be arranged most day and delivery should be a problem either.
NB: Bottom photos are from the Stag launch brochure. Whilst the colour scheme is as with LD20, these images are not LD20

Thanks for looking,

T: the details belowWhen I bought LD20, this car, I'd been looking for Stags for just over a year. This was the first one that didn't wheeze and rattle it's way down the road. It's still every bit as good and fun to drive as when it rolled off the line at Canely. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have.
