Description
One to upset the purists with!
Ask me how I know....
1972 Triumph Stag (registered 1st August) so it's a late Mk. 1, so no side coach strip and the early dials.
Original Triumph V8 engine with manual/ overdrive 'box.
The car was restored in the very late 90's / early 00's and modified slightly in appearance. This includes the front spoiler and the bonnet louvres.
The exhaust has also been modified so that it exits into twin pipes on both sides of the car, rather than just the usual two on the nearside. It gives a really nice burble at low speeds, and is sufficiently quiet on the move.
The paint colour is a 90's Jaguar metallic red (Carnival Red, from the receipt) which suits it well, and the interior is cream leather with red piping. When I got it the car was sitting on some 90's Rover 800 alloys, which didn't really suit the car, so I swapped them for the wheels shown. The tyres are Yokohama Blue Earth, which have covered around 3, 000 miles.
There is plenty of history with the car, and the engine was rebuilt at around 84, 000 miles. I have also recently replaced the water pump, because it was weeping slightly.
Soft top in good condition, apart from one small hole where it got trapped in the mechanism. No hard top, unfortunately.
There is also a Boss screen windbreak fitted.
As an older restoration there are, as you'd expect, areas of paint that have been chipped and/ or touched in, and the odd bubble here and there, but still polishes up very nicely and is an eminently useable example.
Only reluctantly for sale owing to a change in circumstances.
Last MOT ran out in 2018, when it was showing 86, 000 miles, and I've not bothered doing it since. However, more than happy to put it through one for the next owner.
Open to any inspection or trial. I will also get some videos of it running, and will update the ad when I've done this.
