Condition
Exterior
- Paint, body work and underside is in good condition. Right-hand outer sill rusty near rear driver wheel and minor rust appearing around the rear driver window (both in pictures)
- Has been resprayed many years ago - I have a photo of it in the documentation. Light paint blistering on the surface of the bonnet.
- Targa roof and mechanism in good working order. Some cosmetic aging of the fittings around the internal roof mechanism near the sun visors
Interior
- Leather seats in good condition
- Would benefit from some cosmetic work on carpeting
- Left window switch needs replacing
- Temperature heater slider control seized - Fans and defrost mechanism work fine
Engine
- Full engine and gearbox rebuild in 2016 by Barry Barnes. £10k spent - all receipts available.

Price Rationale
This car was valued by John Glynn of Classic Porsche Evaluations (classic-car-valuations. com) at £41, 000 asking price and £37, 000 selling price in 2021. I’m offering it at a reasonable £35, 000 to account for the investment to tidy the car up. This is an excellent opportunity to own a mechanically sound, classic Porsche at a reasonable price.
Interested buyers can get in touch for more details or to arrange a viewing. Serious inquiries only, please. Documentation
- MOT history back to 2006
- Record of engine codes it left Germany with
- No log book
- Very few servicing documents
- There's about an inch of paperwork on repairs/ work done. It dates back to early 90's.
A note on manufacturing volumes
I did a bit of digging on vehicle manufacturer numbers. 1703 SC Targa's were made in RoW in 1981. I cannot find numbers for the production of the UK Sports. According to Porsche Club GB SC Buyers guide, the UK Sport is the most sought after. This was also the first year they offered the spoiler as an option.
I bought the car 50:50 with a friend about 6 years ago - he registered as the owner, #14, and I bought him out a couple of years ago and became owner #15. I'm now looking to buy a simple track car instead, hence the sale.
