Description
This Bonneville has been comprehensively rebuilt after being in a container for about 40 years. The engine had been fitted (by the previous owner) with the 9 stud top end. When stripped for checking, the crank and barrels were new and unused, I believe the engine had been built for very fast road use , or racing, as it is fitted with HC pistons, the head has been ported and the cams are E6147 and E4220, which are the highest performance cams you can get. I have done very few miles and the engine is still in need of some gentle running in. With hind sight I should have fitted slightly lower performance cams, as it was intended for use by me , an octogenarian, but even so it is a very docile engine at low rpm, I bought this bike as a complete basket case but was delighted to find that the crank, rods, barrels, pistons and head were all brand new (the head has been ported a little). The colour scheme of dark blue is that used just for 1960, making it stand out from the usual pale blue version. Unfortunately, age, too many bikes and the house requiring maintenance it has to go
